Yes. smart:chain does not know which instruments are playing on a track. Choosing a profile primes the intelligent processing for what audio material to expect and react accordingly - which frequency regions to emphasize, how to set up the compressor and, most notably, how loud the instance should be in the final mix when using Auto Leveling. smart:chain’s profiles are NOT presets, they fundamentally change what the processing is doing. This does mean that the setup of a large project can require a lot of clicking, but the results will be worth it.
