Note: prime:vocal v1.0.0 supports ARA only in a beta version. As a result, processing may occasionally be unstable and could lead to unexpected crashes. For a detailed list of known issues related to prime:vocal's ARA support, please visit this page.
On Apple Silicon machines, Logic Pro must be opened in Rosetta mode to use prime:vocal as an ARA plug-in. Follow these steps to enable Rosetta:
- Locate Logic Pro in the Applications folder.
- Right-click on Logic Pro and select "Get Info".
- In the Info window, check the box labeled "Open in Rosetta".
In Logic Pro, ARA plug-ins are added to the plug-in chain like any other plug-in, but you must ensure that the plug-in is the first in the processing chain.
- Create a new audio track in your Logic Pro session.
- Add one or multiple audio clips to the track.
- Click the 'Audio FX' button to open the list of available plug-ins.
- Navigate to Audio Units > sonible > prime:vocal (ARA) and select it.
- prime:vocal now opens like a standard audio effect in a plug-in window.
- To trigger ARA processing — allowing the audio waveform to appear in prime:vocal and starting the analysis process — you must briefly start audio playback.
Notes for using ARA in Logic Pro
- Note that due to the specifications of ARA, only a single instance of prime:vocal exists, even if it has been loaded onto multiple tracks. Therefore, when opening the plug-in window, ensure that the tab of the track you want to edit is selected.
- Adjustments such as cursor movements, loop region changes or clip repositioning will only be reflected in the ARA plug-in after the next audio playback. However, during playback, all changes are updated instantly.
